12-18-13 Hump Day Hero – Adela Hernandez Kathleen Jasper December 18, 2013 This week’s Hump Day Hero is a Parent Involvement Specialist who understands the debilitating impact hunger and poverty have on our students and families. She uses philanthropy, compassion and kindness as she operates an entire food pantry out of her school every Thursday. Her pantry feeds over 160 families per month! In addition, she coordinated a Christmas program with local churches. As a result, 100 families will receive presents donated from churches in the area. Not only that, she engages in community outreach by providing free English classes for parents out of her classroom every Tuesday and Thursday. This woman is more than a Hump Day Hero; she’s a saint! For dedicating so much of your time to ensure our students and families are fed, happy, healthy, and informed, Adela Hernandez from Manatee Elementary, you are ConversationED’s Hump Day Hero!
