Hump Day Hero – Ms. Rebecca Bianco Kathleen Jasper December 11, 2013 If you want to see an example of a classroom where respect and understanding allows the teacher to act as a facilitator and students to take charge of their learning, you should head into Rebecca Bianco’s room. There you will find students engaged in activities like Socratic Seminar and Philosophical Chairs. These activities require students to be courteous and considerate of each other’s opinions while expressing their own perspectives. Ms. Bianco is kind, and compassionate and treats her students with respect. In turn, her classroom is a safe place where students treat each other with respect. This enables the students to step out of their comfort zone and stretch towards new concepts and understanding. For providing a space where students feel safe to express themselves in their learning, Ms. Bianco, you are ConversationED’s Hump Day Hero! Congrats!
