HomeHot&FreshHead of State Dept. of ED: You can opt out (video). Brendan Downing April 24, 2014 2 Comments 2 Responses GatorBonBC April 24, 2014 Great info. Thank you. I find it funny that he thinks it is a lack of persistence that leads parents to opt their children out. He says it as if the tests are too hard. He misses the point. Parents do not feel the tests are too hard. They feel the questions are invalid, the data is invalid, the results are not reliable and too late to be useful, the implementation is flawed, the tests are too expensive, and the entire accountability movement is draining funds from our public schools. The definition of persistence is the parent who sticks with public schools but demands better from our Dept of Ed. Reply Kathleen Jasper April 25, 2014 Your definition of persistence is right on. I was thinking the exact same thing when I watched this. Perseverance is keeping with the movement to end testing because it is wrong – keeping with it no matter gown difficult or thankless the fight is. Thanks for being here Bonnie. And thank you for all you do for educators and students. Reply Leave a Reply Cancel Reply Your email address will not be published.CommentName* Email* Website Currently you have JavaScript disabled.
