What happens when 3500 + New York principals stand up against bad education policy?  A movement sweeping the state to protect students and the community from the agendas of big business who lobby legislators. The people implementing this bad education policy reside in state houses not school houses.  However, principals from all over NY State are the example of how educational leaders can stand up for their teachers and students.

This is just a piece of the letter to parents about testing and other detrimental conditions spawned from bad education policy.

“As principals of New York schools, it is always our goal to move forward in a constant state of improvement. Under current conditions, we fear that the hasty implementation of unpiloted assessments will continue to cause more harm than good. Please work with us to preserve a healthy learning environment for our children and to protect all of the unique varieties of intelligence that are not reducible to scores on standardized tests. Your child is so much more than a test score, and we know it.”

For standing up for what is right for students and educators, New York State Principals, you are ConversationED’s Hump Day Heroes.  Thank you!
